ChatGPT now has the capability to see, hear and talk

ChatGPT is introducing new voice and image capabilities that offer users a more interactive interface. The new features, powered by a text-to-speech model, enable users to engage in audio conversations with the assistant and provide images for it to analyze. To use these features, users can opt-in via their settings and can choose from five voices created in conjunction with professional voice actors. Users can show ChatGPT one or more images to investigate or interpret. The system’s understanding of images comes from OpenAI’s multimodal GPT technology. The launch of the new features will be initially available to Plus and Enterprise users and will gradually roll out to other users. The expansion strategy allows for user feedback, which can inform safety measure improvements while maintaining usefulness.

- Plus and Enterprise users: Refers to types of subscription tiers provided by ChatGPT. Enterprise users usually refer to corporations or businesses while Plus users could be anyone who purchases a more enhanced version of a product or service, beyond its standard offering.
