Volkswagen announces integration of ChatGPT in vehicles for enhanced interactions
January 8 2024
Volkswagen is set to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its car models, including the Tiguan, Passat, Golf, and the ID family of electric vehicles, starting in the second quarter of 2024. The implementation, first rolling out in Europe with potential plans for the U.S., aims to enhance the existing IDA in-car voice assistant with more natural interactions, allowing drivers to control basic functions and ask general knowledge questions hands-free. The company highlights future interactive features and has prioritized data protection by promptly deleting queries. Despite challenges in 2023, Volkswagen is proactively adopting the technology, in contrast to other automakers who are still testing such AI, signaling a move to boost its technological image and offerings.
